Albertus Pictor

Sweden Post issues a series of stamps themed 'Albertus Pictor' on 26th March 2009. Albertus Pictor is a well-known artist during late medieval time. He is famous for the wallpaintings in Sweden churches. This miniature sheet features his famous church wallpaintings including 'start of the lifewheel', 'top of the lifewheel' and 'end of the lifewheel' (left to right).

Pheasants

Sweden and China Post issue a set of stamps on pheasants on 9th May 1997. Among the pheasants featured on stamps are Phasianus colchicus and Chrysolophus amherstiae.

New issue of Swedish FDC on 21st March 2012

Sweden Post issues four FDC themed: 'fishing tackle'; 'the north by the sea: 'life at sea'; 'poultry stocks'; and 'the art of photography' on 21st March 2012. Sweden Post Museum has invited the stamp designers of all four FDC issues to meet the philatelic fans on official release day.

Sweden Post issues a series of postage stamps themed 'cats' on 18th March 1994. Among the cat breeds featured on the stamps are Siamese, Persian (upper: left, right); European and Abyssinian (lower: left, right).

Olympic Gold I & II

Sweden Post issues a set of stamps - Olympic Gold I to commemorate Swedish Olympic winners on 27th August 1991. This set of stamps featured four Swedish woman Olympic gold medalists: Magda Julin who won the figure skating in 1920, Toini Gustafsson who won the cross-country skiing in 1968 (upper: left and right); Agneta Andersson & Anna Olsson who woncanoeing in 1984 and Ulrika Knape who won high diving in 1972 (lower: left, right).

Frimung 2012 & HUDDEX 2012

Stockholm Philatelic Society (SFU Stockholm) organized a stamp exhibition (Frimung 2012 & HUDDEX 2012) at Huddinge, Sweden on 3rd-4th March 2012. Sweden Post, Aland Post and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Post has set up a booth to promote their own postage stamps, FDCs, year book etc. Each of them also issue a special stamps, post/maximum cards or aerogram with special cancellations for this event. In addition, there is a number of stamp collectors exhibiting their collections in this event and competing for medals while philatelic dealers selling philatelic items such as FDCs, postcards, mint/used stamps from various countries. I think this is a great effort by SFU Stockholm to promote stamp collecting activities and I enjoyed attending this event very much!

Butterflies

Sweden Post issues a series of butterflies stamps on 21st May 1993. These butterflies are commonly found in Sweden. The Swallowtail is one of the most colorful and largest butterfly found in Sweden (left, upper); the Camberwell Beauty lives on the ground or on the trees (left, lower); the Moorland Clouded Yellow is the most common butterfly found on marshland (right, upper) and Euphydryas maturna is rare and endangered butterfly species in Sweden (right. lower).

Wild Animals II

Sweden Post issues the Wild Animal II on 28th Jan 1993. This set of stamps featuring animals which are usually found deep in the Swedish forest, including wolf, polecat, bear cubs, brown bear and lynx.

Christmas Post 1991

Sweden Post issues four Christmas stamps on 20th Nov 1991 to celebrate Christmas in 1991. The theme is "Children's Christmas". This set of stamps featuring Swedish children's literature and children's book illustrations.

Prehistoric Animals

Sweden Post issues a series of dinosaurs stamps on 3rd Oct 1992. Dinosaurs have been found in Sweden during prehistoric era. Plateosaurus was a common dinosaurs in the Europe and its footprints were discovered at Skane, Sweden.

Viking Life

Sweden Post issues a series of stamps about Viking life on 28th march 1990. This set of stamps featuring carved viking head (1609), moulded dragon's head (1609); out to the sea (1610); The town (1611); religion (God of fertility) (1612); Booty (bishop's crozier)(1613), a deer in gold thread)(1614); at the helm (1615), landing and weapons (1616).

Garden Flowers

Sweden Post issues a series of garden flowers stamps on 9th May 1997. This set of garden flowers issue featuring Siberian iris, Honeysuckle, Columbine, Daylily and Pansy. These flowering plants have been brought to Sweden from foreign countries, hybridized and cultivated in Sweden.

Soccer Football

Sweden Post issues a soccer football FDC (printed in booklet blocks) on 8th October 1998. Soccer football is a popular sport among Swedes and there is increasing number of female soccer football players in recent years.

Sweden-Poland Joint Issue: Marie Curie Stamps

In conjunction with the celebration of International Year of Chemistry 2011, Sweden Post releases joint issue stamp together with Poland Post featuring Marie Curie. This is the third time Marie Curie being portrayed on Sweden Postage stamp since she received her Nobel Prize in Physics in year 1903 and Nobel Prize in Chemistry in year 1911. Marie Curie is the only person who won the Nobel Prize in both Physics and Chemistry. The first day cover for Marie Curie stamp released by Sweden-Poland Post contains a miniature stamp sheet featuring Marie Curie and the Nobel Medal.

In addition, Sweden Post also releases a set of limited edition (3000 units) of Marie Curie FDC featuring Marie Curie miniature stamps in year 2011 and a Nobel Prize stamps in 1963 featuring Antoine Henri Becquerel, Pierre Curie and Marie Curie.

Marie Curie is being portrayed on Sweden Postage stamps for the first time on December 10, 1963 in which Sweden Post issued stamps to commemorate the Nobel Prize winners in 1903. This issue’s Nobel Prize stamps featured Antoine Henri Becquerel, Pierre Curie and Marie Curie; Svante Arrhenius, Niels Finsen and Bjornstjerne Bjornson.

On 10 December 1971, the Sweden Post issued three stamps in conjunction to commemorate the Nobel Prize winners in 1911. This issue’s Nobel Prize stamps featured German physicist, Wilhelm Wien; Marie Curie; Allvar Gullstrand and Maurice Polidore Marie Bernhard Maeterlinck.
